In recent years, the explosion of high quality video games has filled the market with a veritable plethora of gaming options. The first person shooter genre has been predominant in the industry: chiefly the Halo series, the Call of Duty series, and also Battlefield. It has been difficult to find a video game that doesn’t involve some type of blood and gore--alien or otherwise, or some type of high-speed death race hold’em up, murder assassination. Minecraft solves this problem. Minecraft is a sandbox game created by Markus Persson also known as Notch.
Upon entering Minecraft you are swept into a randomly generated three-dimensional environment. You may be placed on a snowy mountaintop or in a cactus filled desert. You then proceed to gather resources, using trees, dirt and stone all to your advantage because you must survive your first night. For the night holds terrors beyond your wildest imagination…. Expect to find zombies, skeletons and spiders the sizes of small ponies. Despite these creatures, you must find a way to stay alive.
In Minecraft, you are not expected to survive by superior physical prowess or some type of advanced alien technology. You must survive by your imagination. Though this may sound strange, it is completely true. In Minecraft, you are bound only by your imagination and blocks.
