Take Down Tobacco Conference

Students from the Council Grove HOSA Resist Chapter participated in the annual Take Down Tobacco conference in Topeka, learning about the importance of advocacy and the dangers of vaping.

Spring Leadership Conference

HOSA members competed this week at the Virtual Spring Leadership Conference.  HOSA-Future Health professionals is a high school Career and Technical Student Organization at the high school that helps prepare students for careers in healthcare fields.  

 

The following members placed in the top three of their event and are eligible to move on to the HOSA International Leadership Conference in June.  

Elizabeth Mascote: 3rd in Human Growth and Development.

Rylee Powell: 2nd in Researched Persuasive Speaking and Writing

Jessica Filkin and Jackson Comer: 1st in Health Career Display

Camryn Frazier, Jayden Coover, Jordyn Picolet, and Lillian Tompkins: 2nd in Community Awareness

 

 

HOSA Anti-Vaping Presentations for 7th and 8th Graders

Resist members from the CGJSHS HOSA chapter have recently presented to the 7th and 8th grade students as a part of their Community Awareness Project for the Spring Leadership Conference.  They discussed the dangers of vaping with the groups followed by a Kahoot competition.

Avery, Lisa, and Mason Lee made and donated 90 masks recently: 30 to Newman hospital in Emporia and 60 to Morris County.  The Lee's created the masks using fabric left over from all of the 4-H projects the kids had worked on throughout the years. (Avery is a HOSA member, but she started this project earlier.)
