Drew Buchman Ties for 4th Place at 3A State Golf Tournament

Today’s 18 holes of golf for the state tournament has been cancelled. Therefore, they’re going by yesterday’s scores which means Drew medaled and tied for fourth place in this year’s 3A state golf tournament.

Buchman Tied For 4th On First Day At State

Braves Golfer Drew Buchman tied for fourth place on Monday, shooting a 74 to advance to the second day of the 3A State Golf Tournament at Salina.

“Play was pretty slow paced as the course was full of golfers and spectators who had to stay behind the golfing groups,” said Coach Bruce Hula. “Drew played very well today, shooting a two over on the front and back to finish with a four over 74. He was really striking the ball well today. Pin placements on the greens were really tough, so to shoot a four over at his first state golf tournament is really impressive. I couldn’t be more proud of the way he competed on day one.”

Buchman will tee off today at 10:20 a.m, though Coach Hula says, "It's going to be a wet one today. We'll see if we can even get it in."

Drew Buchman Qualifies for State

 

Drew Buchman qualified for the 3A state tournament which will be on Monday, May 23 in Salina at their municipal golf course. He scored an 81 for a fifth place finish during Regional competition at Lamont Hills hosted by Santa Fe Trail yesterday.

 

Drew Buchman Wins Flint Hills League Tournament

 

Three medalists earned all conference honors. Drew Buchman (center) won the tournament shooting a 79. Brycen Palmquist (left) placed 7th with 102, and Myles Gant (right) shot a PR with 104, finishing in 11th place. Others playing the course were Hadley Smith (134) and Mark Andres, who had to withdraw due to illness.

 

Five schools competed in the Flint Hills League in golf, and the Braves finished in third place as a team.

 

Next up for the Braves is the 3A regional golf tournament hosted by Santa Fe Trail and held at LaMont Hills golf Club in Vassar, KS on Monday May 16th.
