CG Players proudly presents "You Can't Take It With You" Friday, March 31 at 7:00 pm, Saturday, April 2 at 7:30 pm, and Sunday, April 3 at 2 pm in the CGHS Auditorium. The Art Department will have a display all three performances, and the FACS department will be providing samples of 1930s sweets in conjunction with the show.
In 1936, deep into the Great Depression, the Pulitzer Prize winners Moss Hart and George S. Kaufman gave us “You Can’t Take It With You” and raised the spirits of its audience for the next 80 years. It has enjoyed numerous Broadway revivals, most recently in 2014 with James Earl Jones. It has never been off the list of the six most popular high school plays produced in America since its opening night, December 14, 1936.
Cast members include Jess Prudence, Abbie Schroeder, Casee Robidou, Zach German, Nathan Bolieu, Dawson May, Billy Sales, Luke Richardson, Kaitlynn Grimmett, Sam Goodwin, Tristyn Goebel, Randy Phillips, Chelsey Sales, Caleb Kirk, Melissa Claypool, Jordon Carlson, Natasha Boyce, Jamison Dingler, and Hailey Watson. Yesterday, Kelsey Bane, Ehryn Henton, Kaitlynn Grimmett, and Tamaya Hamilton attended FCS/FCCLA Day on the Hill in Topeka to advocate for Family and Consumer Sciences and FCCLA in Kansas schools.
The original plan was to have this annual event in the rotunda of the capitol building, but because the legislators went on early recess, the event was at the KSDE office building just across the street instead.
The highlight was that Jay Scott, KSDE Director of CTE, visited with Kelsey.

Eleven Council Grove FCCLA Members competed in District STAR (Students Taking Action with Recognition) Events at Wamego High School on Wednesday, February 3rd. Results will be announced next Wednesday, February 10th when FCCLA attends District Officer Elections.
Tamaya Hamilton,Tori Blount, and Kaitlynn Grimmett competed in Chapter Service Project Display, Senior Division. They presented over the Pretty Princesses and Cinderella’s Closet events.
Bo Kraus, Hannah Konen, and Jordan Kelley competed in Chapter Service Project Display, Junior Division. They presented over their 5th Hour Career and Life Planning class project (TCT Tablet raffle) that raised $400 for Care and Share.
Bree Allen, Hailey Hower, and Lauren Reddick competed in Chapter Service Project Portfolio, Junior Division. They presented over their 2nd Hour Career and Life Planning class project (Pictures with Santa) that raised $109 for Relay for Life.
Ehryn Henton and Kelsey Bane competed in Chapter in Review Display, Senior Division. Their presentation covered all of FCCLA’s events throughout this past school year.
