New Counselor

            Mrs. Gant is the new counselor here. She is very excited to get to know and work with CGHS students. “Even before I began working for CGHS, I heard many great things about the students here, which makes me even more proud to be able to call myself a Brave now!” The most difficult part of her job is dealing with the negative things that effect students, whether it is family, relationship, or health issues. "It is always hard to hear about someone struggling or having a rough time. But seeing those hard times makes us (counselors) want to help even more!"

            In high school and college, Mrs. Gant’s favorite subject was psychology. She loved learning about how the mind works and how it affected behaviors and emotions. “Yes, I’m sure I was considered a nerd… and [I’m] proud of it.” Mrs. Gant has some advice for freshmen and seniors alike. "The year will go by fast, so it is important to set goals and work toward accomplishing them." She doesn’t want students to be afraid to ask for help in reaching their goals. She also wants people to be kind to one another. “We are all in the same boat here.”

Financial Aid Night

CGHS Financial Aid Night will be January 25th at 7 pm in the high school auditorium. This informative meeting is for all seniors and their parents.

Flint Hills Tech College Visit

On Monday, the sophomores went to an open house at Flint Hills Tech College. CGHS sophomores were among about eight schools visiting. They heard from the college supervisors, saw different training areas, and explored a few specific areas of personal interest including graphic design, welding, cooking, nursing, automotive and many more.
