If you are writing a paper that requires a book source, and you have searched the library without good results, consider using Google Books as a stop gap measure.
Google Books are under Even More from Google under the Media heading from within your Google account. You can add Books to your dashboard if you think you might use this feature a lot.
Once there, just search your topic. I searched Softball and came up with over a quarter of a million hits.
The thing to remember about Google Books is that because of copyright law, Google can not and will not freely publish the entire book, but they do publish a sample that in many cases will have enough information for you to use in your research without having to do one thing more. Cite it as a book, and you are good to go.
If you require more information, I can order the book for you via inter-library loan. True, it may take a week or so for the book to come in, but in most cases books come in within a week, and you have all the information you need.
