Using Word Files in Google Drive

I have been confused for months because my Word files that used to convert to Docs automatically stopped doing that. Now, by default, Word files stay Word files. Though sometimes I WANT that, sometimes I do not. In the following brief YouTube video, Richard Byrne tells us where Google hid the settings. Ah, Google, you just keep changing it up!
