Code Name Verity is one of my very favorite books. Set during World War II, it is about two young English women (well, one is Scottish and becomes quite peevish if anybody refers to her as English by mistake) who fight in the war in their own unique ways. Despite all the reviews I have read that mention how slow this book is at first, I did not find it so at all and was entranced by the characters, captivated by the plot, and delighted by the themes. If you are interested in this time period and have solid reading skills, give this one a try!
