Commonly, fantasy is all about the quest: the journey from point A to point B and what happens along the way, all with some grand result in mind. Normally sword play is involved, or an encounter with three trolls, or man-eating trees, or SOMEthing. In Graceling, the Big Event on the journey is when the main characters discuss their relationship around the campfire at night; every night, for days. Yawn-a-rama.
I did finish the book, and I really enjoyed the first third and the final third of the book, but the relationship stuff in the middle?
'Fraid not.
